Anyhoo, the biggest news in my life right now is that WE'RE ENGAGED!
So crazy.
He proposed in Shimokitazawa, Tokyo. It was the most fun and food-filled day ever and we both couldn't be happier (I think he's more relieved that he finally did it, after months of planning and anticipation haha).

So now comes the fun part - planning the wedding!
I can't say I've really been one of those girls who plans their wedding since they're 7 years old, and I'm not one to have a big giant fairy tale wedding with my groom coming in on a white stallion and a string quartet playing Canon in D while guests are mingling in formal eveningwear sipping champagne and munching on canapes.
We've been thinking about what our wedding would be like for a good couple of months already, and we have a general idea of what we want/don't want:

WANT
Small(er) party size
Red, navy and cream colour theme throughout the wedding
Bunting!
Tailored dresses & suits - no rentals!
Pants for the bridesmaids
Lots of DIY projects
Dancing!
DON'T WANT

Gate crashing (Yes, for real)
Pre-wedding photography (Also for real)
A hotel reception
Identical bridesmaids & groomsmen outfits - coordinated is the way to go!
Video montage at the reception
To spend more than what we have on our wedding
That's right! We're not taking any loans or expecting angpows to cover any costs for our wedding and we've been saving long and hard for our big day. This "Getting Weddy" series is to chronicle the process of wedding-planning and budget-sticking-to as well as all the DIY projects we're going to take on (hopefully with some useful tidbits and awesome free downloadables).
I hope the series will be useful to anyone who's getting weddy!
Till my next post, turrah!
xo,
Miss D.
